CMA Development is a boutique, architecturally driven general contractor based in San Francisco, specializing in high-end residential remodels, additions, and custom homes throughout the Bay Area. Our work blends architecture, construction, and real estate development, with a strong focus on craftsmanship, communication, and thoughtful execution.
CMA Development is seeking a Project Architect to support the design, documentation, and coordination of high-end residential projects from concept refinement through construction. This role is ideal for someone who is highly capable in Revit and AutoCAD, confident in front of clients, and experienced in custom residential work. The right person can translate design intent into clear documentation, communicate professionally with homeowners and project stakeholders, and help move projects forward with both technical precision and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support architectural design and documentation for high-end residential remodels, additions, and custom homes
- Produce, organize, and manage drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD
- Participate in and help lead client meetings, design reviews, and presentation discussions
- Translate client goals, design priorities, and project constraints into practical architectural solutions
- Coordinate drawings, revisions, and technical details across design development, permit, and construction phases
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, consultants, and trades to maintain alignment between design intent and field execution
- Review field conditions, respond to design-related questions, and help resolve constructability issues
- Support permit submissions, plan check responses, and documentation updates as needed
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, and other consultants to keep projects moving efficiently
- Maintain organized digital files, drawing updates, and project documentation
- Help protect project quality, client experience, and architectural consistency throughout the build process
Qualifications
- 8 or more years of architectural experience, with strong custom residential experience required
- High-end residential remodel, addition, and custom home experience is essential
- Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required
- Strong client-facing communication skills and ability to represent the company professionally
- Ability to balance design thinking with technical documentation and construction realities
- Strong understanding of construction documents, detailing, and consultant coordination
- Comfortable collaborating closely with both office and field teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple moving parts
- Knowledge of Bay Area residential permitting, codes, and project coordination is preferred
- Licensed Architect preferred; strong candidates on the path to licensure may also be considered
- Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
Pay and Benefits
- Full-time, W-2 Employee
- Pay: $110,000 to $140,000 annually, depending on experience

- Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional early mornings or extended hours based on project needs
- Travel: Local travel between Bay Area job sites required
